Hi,

I heard back from many of you are not on the list. I got in contact with SustainUS and any of you not on the list that want to go need fill out the partnership request form online ASAP. You must apply INDiVIDUALLY. The final date for COP 16 accreditation is the 29, so certainly have it filled out before then.The link is provided below:

make sure you select that you are requesting accreditation for COP16,
state that you are with the Cascade Climate Network
state N/A for position (or if you want, put down the realm/group that you want to work on ie. media, actions etc.)
click "yes" for agreeing with SustainUS's policies. [cannot say we are with SustainUS, no actions that are not approved by YOUNGO (basically all actions are approved by YOUNGO)]

Also, they are pretty picky about writing so please take the 200 word essay VERY SERIOUSLY. No typos, have someone edit it, make sure you have a clear focus and message. They like applicable things, bringing the message back home, making connections with youth from the global south, amplifying the message and voices of those most vulnerable, nothing too complicated. "People who've been accredited with [SustainUS] before should just note that in the [essay] section and don't need to fill it in beyond that. New people need to give us a little more info in the last section." And get it done as soon as possible.

You should try and get those 5 not on the list to fill out the partnership request form online (unfortunately I am sending this from my phone, and not near a computer - but will send you the link later if you do not already have it). SustainUS has a steering call tonight and I will be sure to find out approval deadlines for you - however the final date for COP 16 accreditation is the 29, so certainly before then.

Thank you very much for the prompt response. That is great news. I found out yesterday that SustainUS had 5 people from CCN listed for accreditation, but it I just learned that there are another 5 people who are not on the list and also would like to get accredited to attend COP16. My question is - is it too late to apply through SustainUS? If not, when would you need them to have their applications submitted?

Let me preface my response by saying that I am new to this role in SustainUS and this is my first accreditation process (so bear with me) However...I have sent the list out for approval from our steering committee, but was asked to wait until the end of this week to finalize the accreditation. I have heard no response giving me reason not accredit the list as of today - so I would think you should be OK.

I had connected with Louise about our accreditation status. She said our status is currently pending, but she also said the accreditation should go through. Since you work on the accreditation, I would like to ask you two things: first, when do you plan to confirm accreditation via SustainUS for COP16? Second, I know my members want to purchase their plane tickets early to avoid expensive airfare later on. Do you think there is enough of certainty for accreditation to purchase the tickets now or would it be better to wait for the accreditation to be confirmed?
