It’s weird as it’s not a pill so much as a needle you swallow.

That’s right. It’s a type of robotics in the form of an orally ingested tablet that is being explored in research labs like MIT to provide delivery of drugs and other prophylaxis stuff inside mammalian bodies.

I will assume (since i have not been able to attend meetings) this is a long term "fix" for injections.
We currently use a pump to solve that issue, however, this may help MANY people in 3rd world counties w/o refrigeration...
I trust this this NOT slow progress of the OIP ? as Diabetic of 44 years, i feel this project is VITAL to helping people in need.
and my SINCERE "THANK YOU !"  to those who've volunteered !!! What you're doing is one of the
MOST humanitarian projects undertaken in DECADES !!  :)   :)   :)
UNICEF and Red Cross should envy you ALL !!
Grant.

Thank you for the words of encouragement.
If you are asking whether this work on the pill-like gadget is related to our work: it is not. The fact that it uses “freeze-dried insulin” according to the article may indicate that it's also possible to ship around insulin in that form, which should be more temperature stable and might be easier to deliver to people further away from good supply chains, but that is a separate consideration from the main work on the delivery system.

Also, I forgot to mention that it is very unfortunate that MIT is working with Novo Nordisk (one of the insulin cartel companies) on this. Which frankly is not necessarily advancing our cause.
