Salam wa rahmatou Allah

After receiving a lot of requests for cancelling the lab exam, and after having accepted this to satisfy the students (and to avoid machine problems, as reported) and changed it with a small quiz-like exam,
now there is another massive email attack for cancelling the quiz-like exam.

Now we feel that students are playing and exceeding their limits. If we try to be flexible and tolerant with you as much as you can, this does NOT mean that we must be guided by what you want. It's not a game.

We exactly know what students want instead of lab exam: Students want something like a group project, of course because this has less control from our side and some of the students can even make it outside: why? to get the full 15 points independently whether you deserve it or not.
You already got two projects (early in advance) and one mid-term. It is not possible to have all assigments done as group-based. This should be understood and respected.

We, instructors, are not making a theater, we are teaching and evaluating students skills with several exams types. If you are not capable to make neither a lab exam nor a quiz-like exam, this is out of our responsabilities.

Note that this email has been sent in copy to the Head of Department.
Please do not send any response back to any of the instructors.

PS. We will not respond to any email with respect to quiz-like exam.

We want to clarify definitely that a quiz-like exam will be on SUN 30 MAY 2010. No change will be to that decision.

Please note that the topics to be covered for the quiz include DTMC and Queuing theory. It is important that you prepare the said topic well. The duration of the quiz shall be around 45 minutes.
