The Ebola Bundibugyo Virus Disease (BVD) outbreak in DRC and Uganda is moving fast. Declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) on 17 May, it presents distinct challenges from previous outbreaks, as there is no licensed vaccine and no approved treatment. Community trust and civil society engagement are central to the response.

We would like to invite you to a CSC Dialogue titled: Strengthening Collaboration with Civil Society for Ebola BVD Readiness and Response

Monday, 23 June 2026 | 13:00–14:30 CEST | Zoom

Convened jointly by the WHO Civil Society Commission and the WHO Health Emergencies Programme, the dialogue will:

  • Highlight the unique value CSOs bring to readiness and response
  • Assess how CSOs are currently engaged on the ground
  • Identify gaps in coordination, resources, and trust-building
  • Define concrete priority actions across preparedness and active response
  • Generate insights to improve WHO-CSO Engagement

The session will include a situation update from WHO, a panel of perspectives from civil society and partners working on the response, and a moderated group discussion on gaps, challenges, and solutions.
