Senator Bill Frist, M.D. wrote an opinion piece published by Fox News about the current Ebola outbreak in the DRC and the importance of water and sanitation in health care facilities, writing:

"The current outbreak should be a harsh reminder that pandemics know no borders and investing in prevention is the best cure." Preventing the spread requires clean water and sanitation services. In the DRC, 49% of health care facilities have no water services and 59% have no sanitation services.
