Hi All,

I'd like to share a recording of a recent webinar with you featuring names many of you will know from their longtime involvement in global health and the work of faith actors.

Where is the Church on Global Health?

The 2030 Collaborative and CCIH member World Relief held a webinar on the Church and global health, featuring:
  • Lanre Williams-Ayedun, Senior Vice President of International Programs, World Relief
  • Jenny Dyer, Founder, The 2030 Collaborative
  • Senator Dr. Bill Frist, Former U.S. Senate Majority Leader
  • Kay Warren, Co-Founder of Saddleback Church
  • Myal Greene, President and CEO, World Relief
  • Dr. Mark Dybul, Former U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator and Ambassador-at-Large
  • Porter Delaney, Founding Partner, Kyle House Group
The discussion reflected a deep concern for sustaining progress in global health while navigating a period of transition in U.S. policy and funding approaches.

Speakers emphasized the significant impact that long-standing global health investments, particularly in areas like HIV/AIDS, have had in saving lives and strengthening health systems. There was a shared sense that maintaining momentum and commitment remains critical, especially to avoid setbacks in vulnerable communities. The conversation highlighted the shift toward greater country ownership and locally led solutions. This transition is seen by many as an opportunity for national governments and local actors, including faith-based organizations, to take on increased responsibility for health programs.

There was also a reflection on the broader moral and spiritual calling of the Church to demonstrate compassion, uphold human dignity, and engage constructively in public discourse. Speakers emphasized the need for faith communities to remain engaged, principled, and forward-looking during a time of change. I recommend giving it a listen!

Warm regards,
Kathy
