I Have Created a Tunnel whose source and destination is not In IGP

interface Tunnel28
ip unnumbered Loopback2
tunnel source 172.8.8.2
tunnel destination 172.8.8.8
tunnel mode mpls traffic-eng
tunnel mpls traffic-eng priority 7 7
tunnel mpls traffic-eng bandwidth 5000
tunnel mpls traffic-eng path-option 1 explicit name R2-TO-R8 verbatim
no clns route-cache

My Tunnel Is UP UP

If source and Destination Is not in IGP (Loopback 2)
we can create two static routes on Each router head end and tail end

Now, If in Exam we are not allowed to configure a static route
we cant reach the destination (Lo2) with Verbatim Option Your tunnel
Will be UP

But I cannot Ping the destination
so there any way We can reach Destination From Source, WIthout IGP or
Static routes

Prakash

I guess destination should be reachable from source IP address from both the
side for tunnel to be up, really doesn't matter whether it's directly
connected, Static or you use IGP for the reachibility.

Hi

Please refer to MPLS fundamental chapter 8 :- MPLS traffic engineering :- Pg no. 269

"You can either specifiy the TE router ID or link address of the intermediate router"

So for tunnel to come up, just specify loopback 1 as TE router ID and it works.

Gaurav
