Hi CCIDPIPers,

Hope that your semesters are off to a good start!

I just wanted to share a few updates:

Very excited to share that Phil Smith (Southern Alabama) and Angela Mousseau (Rivier University) are taking over as Co-chairs of CCIDPIP. Congratulations to both of you and we look to the new changes that are forthcoming.

Similarly, I also wanted to officially welcome Anne Stewart (JMU) and Anastasia Yasik (Pace University) to the Exec board.  Anastasia will also be serving as secretary for the upcoming academic year. Thank you, also, to Don for staying on as treasurer. In addition, Jennifer Aube and I remain on the e-board.

I was fortunate to work with Anne this past year. Most recently we updated the website. More work to be done, but happy to make some initial improvements to the page. Changes can be viewed at:

As Angela and Phil prepare to take over this month I just wanted to make any last minute updates I can to help with the transition. Please take a moment and reach out to me if we need to update:
  1.  Program contact information - which you can view here: https://psyc.jmu.edu/cipsyd/ccidpip/members.html
  2. Anyone (yourself or someone else) that you feel should be added or removed from this Google Group.
Thank you and I am excited to see how Phil and Angela move us forward!

Aaron

Thanks Aaron,

Angela and I are excited to serve in this role(s).

One issue we've been discussing is the need to better educate and inform prospective applicants to graduate training programs in psychology about the CI model and the benefits of a degree from a CI program. To begin working towards this aim we will be holding a Virtual Information Session and Q&A for prospective applicants. I know many of us have started holding Virtual Information Sessions for our programs. This would take that general idea and expand it to include a bit more about the existence of and argument for attending a CI Program. We could also include additional issues to consider when applying to doctoral training programs (e.g., research and practice orientations, mentorship models, PhD/PsyD, etc.).

We expect to hold this one afternoon/evening in late October or early November. I don't know that we need representatives from each of our programs, but it certainly would be a good opportunity to market your programs in addition to the CI training more generally.  If you would like to be involved in planning and/or executing this Virtual Information Session and Q&A, please let me know by Wednesday, 9/21/2022. I would like to start with the planning during the following week.

Thanks and have a great weekend.
