Dear Petition supporters,

We are now reaching 80,000 signatures! Thank you all for your support.

Regardless various rumors or public relationship tricks played by some people, SCA 5 is still live and kicking! Please keep spreading the words of this petition so we will have constant pressure on California State Assembly.

Based on inputs from many volunteers, there are some ACTION ITEMS you may consider taking if you are comfortable with doing so:

* Don’t forget to press Republican assembly members to vote no on SCA 5. At the Assembly, party members may have more freedom to vote based on input from their own constituents. There is no guarantee that all Republicans will vote no to SCA 5. As a result, we have to press all Assembly members to vote no.

* Please spend some time on calling, mailing, and meeting your assembly members! Kai Zhu' snail mail campaign has kicked off recently. His website ( http://www.no2sca5.org/ ) provides template letters you can print out, sign and mail to your local legislature members.

* Join https://nextdoor.com/ to connect with your neighbors and collaborate with stopping SCA 5.

* Apply for USA citizenship and/or register as voters, if you have not done so. We should be prepared for the final voting if SCA 5 passes the CA State Assembly.

* Teach ourselves and our children to REFUSE filling in any race, sex, ethnicity, country of origin information in any form from now on, whenever possible. Such information is often used to discriminate against people. Why on earth is such information needed if all races are equal?!

Information for some Assembly Districts that we are aware of.
* District 16: A facebook group has been created for residents to communicate https://www.facebook.com/groups/CA16Dist Some residents will meet Joan Buchanan on March 14th. They are collecting online signatures from people who are against SCA 5 and will present the signatures to Ms. Buchanan. Please sign your names at http://tinyurl.com/ca-16dist if you are in District 16.

* District 20: Some residents met Mr. Bill Quirk already. But it seemed that Mr. Quirk needed time to know more about SCA 5 before he could give meaningful responses.

* District 24: A facebook group named “Stop SCA5 D24” ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/assemblyd25/ ) has been created. About twenty residents met Assemblyman Rich Gordon for an initial discussion on Friday, 2/28/14.

* District 25: 2/26, a group of concerned residents met Bo Wieckowsky’s staff member.

* District 77: Please call your Assembly Woman Toni Atkin to voice your opposition at (619) 645-3090. Please check the latest San Diego activities at

Senate District
* District 10: A Republican candidate, Peter Kuo , kicks off fundraising.
http://www.kuoforsenate.com/ He is gaining incresing support due to his public objection to SCA 5.

Again, SCA 5 is still live! Please help spread this petition and reach out to people with all kinds races/gender and/or ethnic backgrounds to win more support!

United we stand!
