Hi Everyone

This is just a bit of a shout out to Melbourne's participation in the upcoming International Nodebots day.  I believe this is the third time Melbourne has participated and it's all been driven a CCHS member, AJ Fisher.

If people haven't met AJ, he's a regular on Wednesday night at the IoT, Embedded and Robots session (unsurprisingly, working on nodebots and robots.)

Nodebots is not in itself a CCHS activity, although many of the Wednesday crew will be volunteering (myself included, although helping and hindering may be quite close in my case.)  This year it will be located at Swinburne University, literally across the road from the Hackerspace.

You can get way more information from the eventbrite site, but I've included some copy below so you can get an idea on what nodebots is about.

Hope to see lots of familiar faces there!

John
(This is totally all my own opinion.  Not at all anything committee related.)

Build web controlled things.

Play with hardware.

Robots!

It doesn’t matter whether you are totally new to hardware, Internet of Things and robotics or have been creating killer droids since you were a kid, you’re more than welcome to join us for the day and participate.

You’ll learn, explore new topics, meet new people and have loads of fun while doing it.

On July 25, come and join designers and developers from around Melbourne for a day of exploration, hacking and fun.

At the same time, you'll be joining people from dozens of locations all around the world, who will also be coming together to build NodeBots on July 25. From Melbourne to Miami, Sydney to Sao Paulo and Brisbane to Boston communities will be coming together for a day of JavaScript and Robots.

NodeBots Day isn’t your usual hack day. You’ll use JavaScript but also get to play with Arduinos, Servos, Sensors, Node.js, Johnny-Five, LEDs and maybe even a drone or two.

This year we will be conducting a Science fair style "Show and Tell" to highlight projects that were built on the day as well as a 'SumoBot' competition to see which team can build the best Sumo Battle Bot.

For those who have been before, advanced sessions on AI, Machine Vision and radio links will be done as breakout workshops for those who want to take their NodeBots skills even further.
