Hi all,
Hope you are all doing well and had a great holiday weekend! I just wanted to let you know about a couple of things happening next week regarding Crisis Camp & Crisis Commons:
First of all, we'll be holding a Crisis Camp at the Red Cross in downtown Santa Barbara next Monday night from 6pm-9pm. If you are interested in coming, here is the registration link:
http://crisiscampsb1.eventbrite.com/ Also, if you know of anyone in the Tri-County area that might be interested in attending, please pass the word on, thanks!
Second, along with representatives from around the world, I'll be attending the first international Crisis Commons congress on July 16 in Washington DC (lots of info on this on the wiki, here is the overview
http://wiki.crisiscommons.org/wiki/CrisisCongress_-_Overview). I'm officially going as the Santa Barbara rep, but as one of the requirements was to fill out a Q&A page about Haiti/Chile response - and Santa Barbara didn't do anything for that - I filled out the LA page instead. I did my best from memory, but I would really appreciate any edits and/or additions that any of you would like to make on the wiki page to make it as accurate as possible - we'll be handing all of this over to the Sloane Foundation which is funding the congress. Here it is:

As I'll be at the congress, I'll be missing a cool event that you might want to attend in San Diego on July 17 - WhereCamp SoCal. Here's the website:

Finally, I think that it is a good time to ask again if anyone wants to take up the reins of running Crisis Camps in the LA area? Obviously there is a great base to work with and I'll certainly help how I can, but it would be great if someone could step up and take this over. If not from inside of the existing group, then I think it makes sense to start putting the word out to see if some new blood wants to step in and take the lead. What do you guys think?
Best,
Chad
