Announcement is hereby made for a full-time tenure track appointment for the Fall 2013 Semester on the Ammerman Campus. Suffolk County Community College is an open admissions institution committed to serving a diverse student population in a variety of degree and career programs.
The department of Communications at the Ammerman Campus seeks applicants for a full time position to teach Communications. The position is for a communications generalist to teach introductory and intermediate courses in communications; an ability to teach voice and diction is desirable. The College seeks faculty who value the opportunity to form mentoring relationships with our students. The successful applicant will also demonstrate an ongoing commitment to excellence in teaching and to professional development. The successful candidate will demonstrate an openness to pedagogical innovation, including, but not limited to the integration of technology and distance education into the curriculum.
Duties will include: · Instruction of assigned courses in accordance with the description published in the College catalog and the approved course outline. · Active participation in departmental, campus and college committees/meetings, academic advisement and curriculum development. · Coordinating student activities and attending various College functions. · Demonstration of scholarly work in discipline. . Adheres to college policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: | A Master’s degree in Communications is required; a doctorate in communications is preferred. An ability to teach voice and diction is desirable. College level teaching is required; community college teaching experience is preferred. The successful candidate will have evidence of quality teaching and/or professional experience, and demonstrated potential for scholarly research or other forms of continued professional development.
This is a Unit III position covered under the Faculty Association of SCCC collective bargaining agreement with the College. |
HIRING SALARY: | The exact salary will be determined by prior teaching experience and placement on the salary scale negotiated by the Faculty Association of Suffolk County Community College. |
