Gardeners! The community garden of Edison Regional Gifted Center and Albany Park Multicultural Center located at 4929 N Sawyer Ave. has many plants that are free to those who come and dig them up this Saturday, May 22nd from 9am to Noon. Please note, we ask that you wear a mask if you are participating in this event, even though it is outside. Plants are being rehomed due to upcoming construction. Many have been moved to our east garden, however we are running out of space for any more of our larger plants. Plants currently planted in the west garden are at risk for being destroyed unless enough gardeners show up for them. Plants are free, just bring a shovel and maybe a pitchfork if you have one. Wear shoes that can get a bit dirty.

If you definitely are planning on attending please email Marcy at stewardsi...@gmail.com so we can keep at least a rough count of how many to expect. I will have an Edison shirt on and if you don't see me for a few minutes, walk to the east side of the building where the new main garden has been moved to.

Plants you may find include: sun chokes, Karl Foerster' Ornamental Grass, Cornflower (Centaurea Dealbata),
bi-color daylilies as well as possible yellow and some orange (since they are not yet in bloom I can guess where the bi-color ones are), 2 four foot tall forsythia bushes, 3 burning bushes (6-6 feet tall), a number of dogwood bushes with green leaves which will get small white flowers (probably next year), green hosta and white and green hosta, what will become large miscanthus grass and another large grass I don't have the name of, phlox, liriope, columbine, rose of Sharon trees, variegated Solomon's Seal, and ribbon grass. Some plants are more numerous than others. Early birds will do best and you may even find something I didn't notice growing.

Looking Forward to seeing you there.

Best,

Marcy
