Plant give away from the community garden of Edison Regional Gifted Center and Albany Park Multicultural Center located at
4929 N Sawyer Ave, Chicago, IL 60625. Saturday May 15th 9-noon.
Please note we ask that you wear a mask if you are participating in this event. Gardeners who come to receive plants are expected to dig them out. Please bring your own shovel and any other garden tools you may need.

These plants are mainly located in our north garden and our west facing garden.
Possible plants you may be able to adopt for your community garden:

Snow Berry bushes that get wonderful white berries. They grow by creeping outward. Please read up on this bush if interested in possibly receiving one.

We also have a limited # of dogwood bushes (a few), forsythia (2), and burning bushes (3). The burning bushes have been requested by one of our volunteers, however he hasn't been able to dig them out yet. If her is not at the school before the official start time of the event I will be able to offer them.

-Centaurea dealbata (agressive spreader) http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/PlantFinder/PlantFinderDetails.aspx?kempercode=d514
-Daylilies (possibly two colors on one plant as well as yellow and orange),
-Hosta (plain green and green and white),
-Iris,
-Ribbon Grass (aggressive spreader),
-a very timid small area of miscanthus grass and possibly some other limited grasses may be available.
- Sun chokes (I recommend planting these for their flower, rather than eating the tuber) Our soil has not been tested for food safety https://commonsensehome.com/before-you-plant-sunchokes/#:~:text=Sunchokes%20are%20edible%20raw%20or,on%20a%20somewhat%20nutty%20flavor.
