Colleagues,
So, our President has put forth the notion of an executive level
reorganization and has asked that the college participate in a
"productive dialogue" (see ACCJC standards...) on the subject. I have
asked Senators to discuss the topic with their constituents and then
bring comments, concerns and questions to the Senate.
Does a discussion and then recommendation on the reorganization fit
within the roles and resonsibilities of the Senate?

Why not, particularly since the reorganization may well involve the
administration of academic affairs and have a direct impact on the
instructional program?

At Long Beach City College, we experienced a reorganization last year.
The senate co-hosted forums with administration, developed a list of
concerns coming from faculty and encouraged and got a FAQ response to
the concerns. We ended up with a list of recommendations from the
senate. Jeff, I will email you the documents generated by these
discussions.

This falls under item 11 of Title V, I think. Of course its an academic matter. Go for it.
