Greetings AS Presidents,

Our local senate will be holding its spring retreat on January 26th. We have 6 new senators this spring (lots of sabbatical vacancies at the same time), some other senators are in their first year and still feeling their way around. We would like to have a community-building activity during the first half hour of the retreat so senators can get to know each other a bit, establish connections, etc.

Do any of you have any suggestions for a good activity to help achieve this goal?

The rest of the retreat will include an Appreciative Inquiry exercise to talk about how the fall semester went and how we can do better this semester. That will be followed by some business discussions and some ASCCC Training (we're in the Coaching Program and our Coach will be providing that).

Would love to start with a nice interactive activity to get everyone comfortable and engaged. Thank you in advance for considering :)

Hi Nancy,

I asked my daughter for some suggestions. She is the Regional Managing Clinical Director of the Bay Area for Alder Graduate School of Education. She regularly puts these types of activities together. Below are a few activities she has had success with doing.
