I have a faculty member looking for a collection of quiz questions for U.S. History.  He's using a combination of the State Department's "Outline of U.S. History" and his own material.  I tried to find the Lumen Learning quiz questions that are based on the OpenStax textbook, but could not figure out how to get to them.  I found the Boundless quizzes but would like to give him a few options.  Thanks!  Tina

Hi Tina,

I believe that you cannot access the Lumen Learning quizzes unless you subscribe to their service. However, if you download the PDF of the OpenStax textbook, there are quiz questions right at the end of every chapter.

Hope this helps,

Kiri

Tina,

We can send you the quizzes. We don't have an easy way to distribute quizzes to verified faculty unless they have an account with us, but we are willing to share them.

Our questions aren't based on the OpenStax book. They were developed to a set of learning outcomes before the OpenStax book was released. I'm sure that your faculty member will need to make some changes to them for his use, but they should give him a nice starting point.

I'll send directly to you nmc.edu account.

Best,
Kim

Thanks so much, Kim!  Nicole Finkbeiner already sent them to me in a zip file.  My history prof was very grateful.

This makes me realize how important it is to create the supplemental materials as well as the textbooks for each subject.

Hi Tina/Kim/Nicole…

I would be interested in the quiz questions as well.  I have a history professor using the Open Stax book as well who just asked the very same thing and was going to ask for release time to develop his own.  Always helpful to see what is already out there!

Thanks much,

Hi everyone!

As an update, we’ve now added the following items to our website for download!

- US History test items
- Chemistry test items
- Principles of economics test items (note: we also have a test bank, so two total!)

Thank you to Lumen Learning for providing these resources from funding they received from the Hewlett Foundation.

For your faculty to gain access to these resources, please ask them to apply for faculty verification here: https://www.openstaxcollege.org/users/sign_up
We manually verify each member, so the process can take up to 3 business days. They will receive an email once the process is complete.

We do prefer this is done by the faculty members themselves.

After that, here are the steps to download the free test banks and other resources:
2. Click “Our books,” the yellow button on the top right
3. Click the book they want to see the resources for
4. Click “More resources,” the orange button under the image of the book.

Please let me know if you have any questions!
Nicole
