Hello All!

So, I bought a few physical OpenStax books a month or so ago, unfortunately we didn’t have a cataloger for a second and they were just hanging out in an office for that time. BUT! We recently hired in a really new cataloger (like fresh out of library school) and they are making great progress on the backlog of items we accumulated! We copy catalog from WorldCat and there are a few OpenStax books that are not listed there, specifically Precalculus and College Algebra.

I just have a few questions:

  • How is everyone cataloging their physical OER materials?
  •  Do you have any advice on how to do that (and/or any advice for a brand-new cataloger)?
  • Bonus question: what are your thoughts on putting digital  OER books like from the Open Textbook Library into the library’s catalog?

I did find MHCC Heather White’s OER MARC template, you can find the original post here: https://groups.google.com/g/cccoer-advisory/c/FbMIf9WtKfs/m/gEyiMU7-AgAJ . Which we will definitely use in addition to whatever you fine folks bestow upon us! 😁

Thank you for your time in advance!
