Year 5 Call for Participation CLOSES FRIDAY September 6
Are you seeking to make your teaching practices and instructional materials more antiracist? Do you wish that your course materials incorporated and supported the voices and experiences of all your students? Are you concerned about the cost of commercial course materials that don’t support equitable student learning? We’re seeking teams of faculty from California Community Colleges (CCC) wishing to make their teaching and instructional materials antiracist to join a statewide Open for Antiracism (OFAR) Faculty Cohort running from September 2024 through June 2025.
Are you interested in raising awareness about antiracism on your college campus? Would you and your college community like to participate directly in research on Open Educational Resources and Antiracism in California? Are you interested in joining a community of practice committed to antiracism, equity, and open education? If so, we invite your school to apply to join our fifth-year cohort. Please read our call for participation before you submit your application. Our self-paced and facilitated OFAR course from year four are also available to view.
Year 5: Call for Participation
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We have recently revised some of our responses to two frequently asked questions. Please see below:Many instructors at my college are interested in applying. Can our college submit applications for two teams?
If you're considering having more than one team, please highlight in your application how the additional team will build upon or expand the work initiated by the first team.
Do all team members need to be faculty?
Currently, OFAR is limited to participants teaching a class during the Spring term due to our research methods that track student outcomes during this period. However, anyone teaching a course in the Spring can join a team, including part-time faculty, adjunct, and staff teaching classes. We plan to develop programming for non-instructional faculty and staff in the future. If you're uncertain whether your course will run in the Spring, you can still join a cohort by providing a contingency plan, such as developing and running a workshop for your college or colleagues, a revised training module, or a new DEI handbook, etc.
