Choosing National Priorities for Open Education

Dear open education colleagues,
The Open Education Association is excited to invite the open education field to collaboratively select national priorities for open education advocacy in the U.S. The process will focus on identifying challenges facing higher education today where openness is part of the solution but is not yet a large enough part of the conversation. By identifying a set of priorities connected to those of leaders and policymakers, open education can have an even greater impact in the years ahead.
Everyone who believes in open education as a solution is invited to participate in helping to choose these priorities—no matter your role, how long you have been involved, or which networks you are part of. This is meant to be a conversation for the whole field, and it’s not complete without you.
A webinar will be held on August 12, which will formally announce the national priorities process and how to participate.
Choosing What’s Next: Introducing National Priorities for Open Education

Throughout the fall, there will be opportunities to participate in listening sessions and open calls for input on potential priorities, coordinated with groups and communities across the field. The process culminates at an in-person summit on November 10-12, where representatives from across the country will finalize a set of priorities based on the field’s input. After the summit, a synthesis will be reported out, and everyone will be invited to collaborate on plans to put the priorities into action.
