Hello CCCOER folks,

The RIOS Institute is excited to host another Brew & Banter session featuring Dr. Tatiane Russo-Tait , Assistant Professor of Cellular Biology at the University of Georgia who will encourage contributions and participation from all who are interested in constructing:

A Manifesto for Critical-Feminist Science Education

Science education continues to be hindered by entrenched patriarchal, colonial, and neoliberal structures. In “A Manifesto for Critical-Feminist Science Education” Dr. Russo-Tait and co-authors invite contributions to a special theme in the top-tier journal Science Education. This special theme aims to provide a welcoming platform for bold, feminist scholarship that disrupts the status quo and reimagines our discipline. As exemplified by the manifesto itself –which is not a simple call for papers, but a review paper in and of itself–the guest editors invite work that is firmly grounded in feminist theories and centers care, collaboration, and epistemic disobedience. They welcome submissions that focus on joy, utilize creative methodologies, and build transnational connections through feminist frameworks. They are especially interested in papers from those whose feminist scholarship has been epistemically excluded from other science education venues. The goal is to foster a brave and supportive community for scholars who are pushing boundaries and questioning dominant knowledge systems. Ultimately, the co-editors hope that this special theme will contribute to our collective reimagining of science education research and practice toward more justice-centered and imaginative futures. Join us for a conversation about the special theme. Access the manifesto (https://tinyurl.com/5fmvp2kd) and come ready to ask questions and discuss how you might take part of this collective effort!

As with all RIOS events, this session is free and open to the public (and not recorded):

Thanks!

Karen
