OFAR Summer News & Opportunities
This summer, there is a lot happening in the OFAR community! Applications are now open for OFAR Year 7; our Lead Coach, Dr. Jamie Thomas, reflects on the transformative possibilities of coaching; OEGlobal 2026 is headed to MIT; and we’re energized by the connections we made at the Online Teaching Conference in Anaheim this past June.

Join Us for OFAR Year 7!
Applications are open through September 4
We are excited to invite California Community Colleges to apply for Year 7 of Open for Antiracism (OFAR)!
OFAR brings together college teams committed to transforming teaching and learning through open education, antiracist pedagogy, culturally responsive practices, and open pedagogy. Participating faculty engage in a year-long professional learning experience that combines structured learning, coaching, collaboration, and implementation in their own courses.
College applications are due Friday, September 4, by 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time.

Dr. Jamie Thomas on the Power of Coaching
What does coaching make possible in antiracist professional learning?
In a wonderful new CCCOER blog post, OFAR Lead Coach Dr. Jamie Thomas reflects on coaching as a space for dialogue, inquiry, reflection, and meaningful change. Her piece explores the work that happens when educators move beyond simply identifying inequities and begin examining the systems, assumptions, and practices that sustain them.

Come Invent With Us at OEGlobal 2026!
The global open education community is headed to MIT
Looking for an opportunity to connect with open educators from around the world? Consider joining OEGlobal 2026, taking place October 7–9 at MIT’s Samberg Conference Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and online.
This year’s theme, “Come Invent With Us!”, invites the open education community to explore new ideas, emerging practices, human connection, technology, and the future of openness. The newly released program includes more than 170 sessions featuring presenters from 27 countries.

OFAR at the 2026 Online Teaching Conference
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at the Online Teaching Conference in Anaheim this June!
We had an amazing time reconnecting with past OFAR participants, meeting members of our current community, and sharing insights from our work. Our session focused on updating a fully online course through an equity lens and gave us a chance to think together about what equitable and inclusive online learning can look like in practice.
One of the best parts of OFAR continues to be the community that has grown around this work, and it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces in Anaheim.
Thank you to everyone who came out, joined the conversation, and continues to make this community what it is. We hope to see you again soon!
