Good afternoon, ZTC ListServ village!
I am working with Human Physiology faculty at Skyline to identify no-cost online lab simulations to replace the for-cost
PhysioEx online sims for the following topics:
- Cell Transport Mechanisms and Permeability (Activities & Graphs)
- Skeletal Muscle Physiology (Activities & Graphs)
- Neurophysiology of Nerve Impulses (Activities & Graphs)
- Cardiovascular Dynamics (Activities & Graphs)
- Cardiovascular Physiology (Activities & Graphs)
- Respiratory System Mechanics (Activities & Graphs)
- Acid-Base Balance (Activities)
Key to the simulation labs is the ability of students to obtain and apply data to graphs.
That said, we have reviewed
PhET simulations and
Desmos (graphing) and they may be potential building blocks to meet this need. But we are wondering if there are other resources out there we may have overlooked.
Our questions to the ZTC village are:
- Are there interactive OER Biology/Physiology simulations that faculty are using to support interactive assessments that include a data graphing component?
- Is anyone working on developing a simulation system to support human physiology topics?
- Is anyone aware of grants that might support this development in the near future?
Thank you all!
