Hello all (apologies for cross-posting),

ISKME is offering three new professional learning opportunities to support our community with making OER more accessible.

The Introduction to Accessibility for OER Sessions will explore the processes, tools, and best practices for creating and remixing openly licensed resources for accessibility. These introductory sessions are free and are offered on Feb 3 & 9 and March 4 & 12. Learn more and register here!

ISKME has partnered with CAST to lead two advanced series that will support OER Accessibility for Images & Styles. Each series will provide targeted learning on how OER can better incorporate accessibility best practices for adding and describing images, and utilizing styles in resource design.

·  OER Image Accessibility Series – Register here

  • Session One will focus on how to find OER images, give proper attribution, and create Alt Text to describe images – February 11th – 2:00-3:30pm EST
  • Session Two will dive deeper into creating Long Descriptions for more complex images and diagrams, and developing systems for cataloging and supporting OER image use – March 11th – 2:00-3:30pm EST

·  OER Styles Accessibility Series – Register here

  • Session One will introduce Style categories, including Headings, Navigation, Fonts, and Chunking; and how to use Accessibility Checkers to support Styles – April 8th – 2:00-3:30pm EST
  • Session Two will explore how to represent complex information using Styles, including tables, and how to utilize templates for optimized Accessibility Styles – May 13th – 2:00-3:30pm EST

Thanks for your interest!

Mindy
