Laredo College Virtual OER Summit – Advancing Access, Innovation, and Student Success

I hope this message finds you well. On behalf of Laredo College, it is my pleasure to invite you to our upcoming Open Educational Resources (OER) Summit, which will take place virtually via Zoom on May 1, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This innovative, state-of-the-art convening brings together educators, administrators, and thought leaders committed to expanding access, affordability, and excellence in higher education through OER.

This summit will boldly navigate both the challenges and opportunities that OER presents. Through a series of engaging sessions, we will explore topics such as scaling OER across institutions, securing faculty buy-in, developing and sustaining OER fellowships, training OER champions, and providing ongoing, impactful professional development. Additionally, we will discuss legislative updates shaping the future of OER and share practical strategies for building institutional capacity. Central to our conversation will be the transformative impact OER has on reducing student costs—saving students hundreds, and often thousands, of dollars—while simultaneously enhancing teaching innovation and student success.

At Laredo College, we have firsthand experience with the power of OER to reshape the educational landscape. This summit is an opportunity for us to share our journey, highlight lessons learned, and foster meaningful dialogue with colleagues at all stages of OER adoption. Whether you are just beginning to explore OER or are looking to scale up existing initiatives, this event is designed to support and inspire your work. More importantly, it is a chance to build a broader network of OER practitioners and advocates dedicated to advancing equitable access to education.
