Happy Juneteenth from OFAR!

As we mark Juneteenth, we are reminded that the work of educational equity is both urgent and ongoing. Open for Antiracism (OFAR) is honored to play a small role in supporting California Community College faculty as they redesign teaching practices and instructional materials to better serve all students.

We also want to celebrate and congratulate our Year 6 OFAR cohort. Your work, reflection, creativity, and commitment continue to inspire us. You can check out their amazing work and our year 6 webinars here.

Year 7 is right around the corner: Call for Participation is OPEN

Open Education Global’s Community College Consortium for OER invites teams of faculty from California Community Colleges to join the 2026–27 Open for Antiracism Faculty Cohort. Selected teams will participate in a 6-week facilitated online course in Fall 2026 and implement antiracist OER and open pedagogy action plans in Spring 2027.

OFAR is open to full-time and adjunct faculty in California Community Colleges. Teams should include 4–5 faculty from the same college. Participants who complete the program earn a $3,500 stipend. Team leaders receive an additional $750 stipend.

Applications due: Friday, September 4, 2026, 5 pm PT
Notifications to applicants: September 18, 2026

Equity Research

OFAR continues to grow in response to a changing higher education landscape. Since 2020, our program has supported faculty in using OER and open pedagogy to make teaching and learning more antiracist. Our research reports show the impact of this work over multiple years, and they continue to guide our refinement of the program to meet the needs of faculty, students, and colleges today.
