Making ZTC Data Available With Data Dashboards

Good Morning! At OpenEd, Alex Karan from Chabot College gave a 20-minute talk about the work that he and others have engaged in to develop templates to simplify the creation of data dashboards for visualizing the impact of ZTC - and OER - work. The ASCCC OER Initiative was pleased to participate in this work and we now want to share it more broadly. This Friday's webinar (details below) focuses on the implementation of the templates. The archive of a recent webinar (Making Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) Data Available With Data Dashboards) is available that showcases the capabilities of these dashboards and the Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) Dashboard Templates are available for download. In the California community colleges, we are required by law to mark our no-cost (ZTC) course sections and are now required to report additional cost data (XB12) that captures how a course section became no-cost.

• Making Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) Data Available With Data Dashboards – Data Requirements and Template Implementation

  In collaboration with the OERI, the Michelson Foundation, and college practitioners, Chabot College built a data dashboard template to help make ZTC section data easily accessible locally.  In addition, the integration of XB12 data into the dashboards would enable users to answer questions related specifically to the use of open educational resources. In this webinar, we’ll discuss what data are necessary to import into the dashboard template for Tableau and Power BI softwares. We will also discuss in what ways institutions can change the template to match data that is most pertinent to their individual college.
