Subject: Re: HuYoung Ministry Update - Exciting Things Are Happening!
Hi Leeyeh!
I hope that this email finds you and your family flourishing under the grace of our Lord! It certainly has been a while since we've caught up! Are you still our main point of contact with the CCCNJ mission board? I had heard that members change each year and did not know who we needed to connect with in 2022.
I wanted to send you an update on our ministry and tell you that - as you'll read below - I will be engaged in missions work that does not require such restrictive communication security requirements as when we were working to reach China specifically. So, I'll be sending out more detailed updates of the ministry work I get to pursue across Asia :)
Over the past 2 years, I’ve been blessed to lead the media ministry charge for OMF’s China & Beyond field as their mission media facilitator, encompassing all ministries operating within China and some areas of Southeast Asia. (Media ministry focuses on the use of technology, audio and visual media, and social media networks to engage hard-to-reach audiences on their devices, with a goal of connecting potential new believers to existing believers and local churches.) However, in the past year China has become an incredibly difficult place in which to pursue and cultivate media ministry strategies. Sadly, new restrictions and anti-Gospel policies recently enacted by the government has caused many ministry teams on the field to prioritize security concerns over the potential reach of media ministry among their peoples of focus.
During 2019, in the year before we had to leave China, we were able to help conduct a series of mission-focused trainings with a local Chinese church network, casting vision for reaching their own ethnic minorities and training them in cross-cultural disciple-making. By God’s grace, He led them to adopt our unreached people group and have continued that work as we had to say goodbye to a season of in-person ministry on the field due to COVID.
In the past 8 months, as media ministry pathways have been shutting down in China, my heart has been desiring to take a more strategic role in raising up and equipping local believers to pursue the Great Commission through disciple-making in their own countries. In my experience, local believers are simply better at reaching their own peoples than an "outsider." In an answer to prayer, God connected me to a ministry called T-Net International (T-Net stands for Training Network), and their ministry purpose is exactly what I'd been seeking the Lord for: Their commitment is to bring accredited theological training with a strong discipleship focus to networks of pastors where God already has given them ministry and influence.
T-Net's end goal is to equip every pastor with the tools and vision to see the Great Commission finished in their cities, provinces, countries and the world. Every pastor who trains with T-Net is then coached to become a fellow trainer, reaching out through their own circles of influence to reproduce biblical discipleship in others, even outside their own churches. It is through this process of multiplication that we can see the Great Commission finished.
Check out T-Net at www.finishprojectzero.com.
Though I want to tell you everything about T-Net, I want to keep this letter brief, so here are the highlights.
- In less than 40 years, T-Net went from a US-focused renewal movement through the Evangelical Free denomination (focused on returning the Church to its disciple-making roots) to training over 35,000 pastors across 44 countries to plant churches through discipleship principles. We are officially in 11 Asian countries, though some unofficial work is being done in creative access nations through local pastors crossing borders.
- T-Net's training curriculum is accredited through the Asian Theological Association (ATA), and can offer the following degrees to pastors and church leaders: Certificate of Christian Ministry, Undergraduate, Masters and Doctoral degrees.
- T-Net's God-sized vision is to see a discipleship movement started in every country on earth by 2050, through equipping local pastors to reach their populations and then spread to their neighbors, saturating their countries with followers of Christ.
Thank you for the way you have walked with us in prayer and supported us in finance. You are a blessing and an encouragement as we partner to further God’s Kingdom on the earth and desire to fulfill His Great Commission. Your faithfulness and generosity of time, treasure and intention have been such a tangible reminder of God’s care and provision for His people.
- I am joining T-Net as the Associate Director of Asia Ministries, which will allow me to train, coach and partner with pastoral networks throughout Asia, from India to the Philippines. I will then succeed the current Director of Asia Ministries in 2023.
As the Lord leads, would you and CCCNJ continue to partner with us as we complete our transition to T-Net? Our dear colleagues at OMF have graciously agreed to continue sending any support directed toward us until the end of August to help us as we transition. I'm also excited at the potential for my new role to create opportunities to partner with many of our OMF colleagues throughout Asia, as I've already had some great conversations with friends about the need for pastoral training.
As of September, 1, 2022, we will officially end our membership with OMF. I have attached a walkthrough document detailing how to end giving with OMF (through their online portal - if you need direct assistance with OMF Partner Relations, please let me know and I will have them connect with you) and how to transition your partnership to T-Net. If you need any direct assistance from T-Net, please let me know who should be contacted and I will have our T-Net partnership manager reach out.
I would love to share more with you via phone or video chat, and create opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have. I have also included a brief info sheet about the ministry and my role.
Laboring alongside you in Christ,

Hi there! We are Dave & Ali HuYoung, with our daughters Amelia and Molly. This newsletter is purposed to share our ministry news, needs and prayer requests with our gracious network of partners, who labor alongside us in prayer and resources to obey the Great Commission.
We pray that you are encouraged by what God is doing in our midst!

Well, this is refreshing.
To say it's been a long time since we’ve been able to send out an e-mail newsletter is an understatement.
When we were operating under the extreme security protocols that are required for work focused in “The Big Country,” we had to revert to snail mail newsletters that couldn’t really divulge much in the way of ministry details, but God has led us into a new season of ministry! And in this new season I will be engaged in ministry across Asia, so I no longer have the same set of security restrictions on communication. That means I get to share some amazing stories of what God is doing through His Church in Asia!
We are in the process of transitioning out of OMF International to another mission organization called T-Net International. (Mission organizations seem to love acronyms.) I’m stepping into a role that allows me to pursue the call of the Great Commission across Asia through direct partnership with local pastors and their churches. T-Net’s mission is to facilitate disciple-making movements in every country on earth by partnering with local networks of pastors and churches in every country.

We believe that Christ commanded His Church to fulfill the Great Commission, both at home and abroad. It wasn't meant to be outsourced solely to mission organizations. To that end, we need to be part of equipping local churches in every country to pursue God’s vision.
So how do we do that?
An eye-opening statistic from the Lausanne Movement on global mission is that, worldwide, only about 5% of all pastors and priests have a formal theological education.
There is great need for theological education and on-the-job training for pastors and church leaders. We want to change that, and at the same time show our brothers and sisters in ministry that we can accomplish the Great Commission through discipleship-making movements.
T-Net has invested the time and effort to create an online seminary (Teleo University, accredited through the Asian Theological Association) to train and equip men and women who have been called by God into ministry, without removing them from the places where they currently minister. They have the opportunity to earn anything from a Certificate of Ministry up to a Doctoral degree, and their relatively minimal student fees go directly back into the coffers of each country’s T-Net ministry fund to continue educating and training more pastors across their county.
When T-Net enters a country and begins training the first generation of pastors, by the grace of God we also identify a candidate willing to take responsibility for leading T-Net in that country, as well as an advisory board of peer pastors who will share in oversight and direction of the ministry.
Because Christ called His disciples to make disciples and teach them to obey His commands, theology can’t be the only thing we teach. We also must teach obedience to the Great Commission; therefore, every T-Net curriculum is steeped in discipleship methodology, and every participant is required to reproduce what God is teaching them into the next generation. So, students become trainers, and each generation trains the next, with a comprehensive system of curriculum, coaching and support. This process is called multiplication - and it pretty much works like multi-level marketing, but for Christ.
I know this was a lot of text to get through for a first newsletter, but I want to give you an overview of what T-Net is, and what its mission and vision is. T-Net is already in 44 countries across the world, with over 35,000 pastors having joined the T-Net (which is short for Training Network) program. There are many countries yet to reach and much work yet to do. I hope you will join me in praying for this work, but more importantly that God will continue to spread His Kingdom forth and make His name great among the nations.
I look forward to regularly sending out encouraging stories, ministry needs and updates on our work with T-Net.
