Job Announcement: Program Coordinator/ Consultant

Organization Profile:
The organization is a faith-based Haitian non-profit organization
dedicated to promoting peace and justice by providing transformative
learning experiences that bring people together across economic,
cultural, educational divisions and that equips communities to care
for their most vulnerable members.

Position Profile:
An organization based in Jacmel, Haiti is seeking a dynamic,
experienced VAWG Program Coordinator/ Consultant to take primary
responsibility for the adaptation, implementation, monitoring and
evaluation of SASA! An Activist Kit for Preventing Violence against
Women and HIV and all objectives related to VAWG work at the
organization. S/he will be the local counterpart to the VAWG Program
Development Specialist, and report to the organization Director.

Specific Responsibilities include:

Program Management and Internal Capacity Building
• Take primary responsibility for the achievement of objectives
related to the VAWG prevention and response work at the organization.
• Provide day to day leadership, structure and maintain vision of VAWG
program.
• Support and supervise staff in planning, documentation, and
monitoring of activities.
• Maintain strict adherence to organization financial and
administrative system and policies.
• Provide capacity building events for VAWG program staff.
• Assist organization Director and Program Development Specialist in
development of proposals and fundraising for VAWG work with local and
international donors.
• Provide timely comprehensive reports as stipulated by organization
and donor requirements.
• Assist VAWG Program Development Specialist in development,
adaptation and translation of technical assistance and program
implementation, monitoring and evaluation materials.

Coordination, Networking and External Technical Support
• Represent the project in national and international forums.
• Build relationships with professionals and decision- makers in
various sectors.
• Work with VAWG staff to provide technical support to other sectors,
organizations and government entities, as strategic.
• Work closely with Civil Society Organizations through net working
and building coalitions toward advocacy objectives.


Advocacy
• Lobby and influence leadership in relevant sectors (health, etc) to
advocate for review of and change policy on VAW issues in their work
place.
• Provoke public debate about VAWG by writing newspaper columns,
newsletters articles, pamphlets and development of information packs
for different stake holders.
• Work closely with journalists and editors to improve the portrayal
of women in the media.
• Provide leadership in policy advocacy on women’s rights and violence
against women issues at a national level.

Misc.
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the organization Director
or Program Development Specialist.


Experience and Background
• At least three years of experience in human rights work.
• At least three years management experience.
• University degree in related discipline. A masters degree will be an
added advantage.
• Experience working on women’s rights, particularly violence against
women.
• Program planning and management skills.
• Experience using participatory training methodologies.
• Experience doing advocacy work and/or working with the media
establishment.
• Written and spoken fluency in Haitian Creole and French required.
Working knowledge of English a plus.
