COMMUNITY INVITED TO SHARE THEIR BRIGHT IDEAS FOR THE FUTURE OF PARKS AND RECREATION AT UPCOMING PUBLIC WORKSHOP
SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Parks and Recreation Department invites the community to drop by an interactive workshop for the Parks and Recreation Master Plan and General Plan Element Update on Thursday, September 13 at the Ludwick Community Center from 4 to 7 p.m. The department wants to hear from community members on what they see as important features for our City’s parks, facilities, and recreation in the future.
When the City Council approved the budget for this planning effort, they noted the current Element is outdated and in need of a prioritized master plan. New parks are being proposed in multiple residential projects in the City, so the Parks and Recreation Commission and staff needs a contemporary vision and data regarding current and future parks and recreation needs.
The primary objectives for this significant planning effort are to assess the existing parks and recreation facilities; identify the community’s needs, hopes, and dreams; and update goals, policies, and programs that relate to providing parks and recreation facilities, programs, and services within the City.
This drop-in workshop will allow the public to get involved and tell the City and the project consultants what is important to them. There will be 7 interactive stations to engage with staff and share inspirations and ideas related to focused topics and issues. All comments will be collected and considered as the City develops the Master Plan and Element Update. Workshop participants who visit each station can win a FitBit and/or Parks and Recreation goodies! Families and people of all ages are welcome to attend and are encouraged to actively participate.
