Dear colleagues,

 

Please find attached the latest analysis report from the Displacement Tracking Matrix along with the appendix tables. This is tracking the displacement resulting from the 2009 Luzon typhoons.

A summary of the key findings is pasted below for ease of reading.

 

Findings specific to 31 evacuation centres in Region 4-A, Region 3, NCR and CAR,  hosting a total 12,947  people (3,111 families), as of May 31, 2010:


Camp Management

  1. 94% (29 out of 31) of evacuation centers had camp management committees.
  2. 40% of evacuation centres (12 out of 31) were found to be susceptible to climate hazards and risks (further flooding).
  3. 58% (18 out of 31) of IDPs did not have access to information on government relocation plans.

 

WASH

  1. 39% of evacuation centres fell short of the SPHERE standard ratio of taps/water points per person.
  2. 23% of evacuation centres fell short of the SPHERE standard ratio of latrines per person.
  3. 43% of evacuation centres had appropriately segregated bathrooms, for males and females.

 

Shelter

  1. 36% (4,771 people) of the total displaced population are accommodated in makeshift shelters with a significant proportion of these located in Region III.
  2. 35% (4,468 people) of the total displaced population are accommodated in transitional shelter sites
  3. 61% of sites reported as having no electricity supplied on site. The majority of these sites are tent cities located in Zambales.

 

Health

  1. 13% of sites reported that no health services were provided at the site
  2. 35% of evacuation centres reported the distribution of infant formula or milk products.

 

Education

  1. 3% of all evacuation centres are public schools.
  2. 100% of sites recorded that children were going to school

 

 

Protection (Risks to Vulnerable Populations)

  1. 77% of evacuation centres were able to forge a feeling of security and safety among their IDP populations.
  2. Less than 3% of evacuation centers reported incidences sexual harassment and less than 6% reported child abuse.
  3. 3% of evacuation centers reported incidences of domestic violence.
