If I remember right, they have different levels of warranty ... have you bought a warranty for a laptop from Micro Center before ... thoughts? experiences?

Why am I buying a warranty?  Because I wear my laptops out ... I haven't bought one yet that didn't have to go in the shop a MINIMUM of 3 times during a warranty period ... and one actually getting replaced during that time ... but it was a different company that I bought it from ...

Thanks!

I have -- and when I've needed to invoke it, they did it cheerfully,
without a fuss. Also, they track it by phone number, not by some scrap
of paper you have to hang onto for a few years.

Yeah, the warranties are run through a company called ServiceNet, so
even if you can't make it into the store, you can still get it fixed.
The lower plan (if things haven't changed too much) covers the basic
failures, and the upper plan takes care of accidental damage.

I'm personally with you--I seem to have a streak of bad luck when it
comes to my laptops--they like to die in odd ways... Have an old
MBPro with the baked nVidia GPU, had a digitizer go out on a tablet,
backlights fail, and just other general problems.

Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback!  My old laptop was just having issue after issue (not counting when I spilled coffee on the keyboard).  ;-)   I purchased a laptop Saturday from Micro Center ... parents gave me $600 for Christmas so that was my budget ...

Click here to see My new laptop

I got an i7 laptop for $600 (about $200 less than anywhere else I could find for the exact same model ...including online!) ... and I added more RAM so now I have 8 GB.

Intel® Core(tm) i7-2670QM
4GB DDR3 RAM
500GB Hard Drive
15.6" HD LED Backlit Display
DVD Burner Drive
4-in-1 Memory Card Reader
Intel® HD 3000 Graphics
10/100/1000 Network
802.11b/g/n Wireless
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
The Samsung Series 3 NP300V5A-A0BUS Laptop C

It loads CS3 much faster than the old one ... it's 2 pounds lighter ... only drawback is that my old HP 2nd hard drive can't go inside as there isn't a second drive bay.  ...and I also limited myself some with demanding a 10 key pad.   ...so far seems pretty good ... and the screen is wide screen just like my additional screen mounted above my desk ... so things are a little easier to view in the multiple screens.

I'm going to let my teens use the old one, until it dies, for 3D design creations and printing as their laptops probably couldn't handle the workload.
