how do i get my guess to be printed out using the arrays? the printing
out part is no problem, i'm having a bit of trouble getting y guesses
to be recorded into the array.

The assignments are to be done either individually or in pairs. You're not allowed to work with other students unless that person is your partner. You're definitely not allowed to ask the entire class for help.
If you're having trouble on one part, what I'd recommend (other than emailing the professor - me) is to focus your work on the other parts of the assignment. Make sure that the program picks a random number, gives you just 5 guesses, tells if your wrong guess is too high/low, etc.
