Dear Wayne,

As a stakeholder committed to expanding broadband access in Wisconsin, Senator Baldwin wanted to make sure you were aware applications are now being accepted for the Community Connect Grant Program.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Community Connect Grant Program helps fund broadband deployment into rural communities where it is not yet economically viable for private sector providers to deliver service.

Rural areas that lack any existing broadband speed of at least 10 Mbps downstream and 1 Mbps upstream are eligible, and applicants can include state and local governments, tribes, non-profits and for-profit corporations. Applications will be accepted through May 14, 2018.

Learn more about the Community Connect Grant Program and view applicant information here.

Potential applicants may also join USDA’s Rural Utilities Service for an informative webinar focused on the Community Connect Grant Program. These webinars will be held next Thursday April 5th and Tuesday April 10th. Participants will learn about the major eligibility and regulatory requirements of the program, as well as receive detailed guidance on how to submit a successful application. There will also be time for participants to ask specific questions regarding putting together an application.

Register to attend a Community Connect Grant Program informative webinar here.

As a member of the Senate Commerce Committee and the bipartisan Senate Broadband Caucus, Senator Baldwin is committed to supporting federal programs like Community Connect Grants that invest in our infrastructure, and will continue to advocate for the expansion of reliable, affordable broadband access for communities throughout Wisconsin.

If you decide to apply for a Community Connect Grant or other federal funding opportunity, please do not hesitate to request a letter of support for your application(s) from Senator Baldwin. Feel free to contact Grants & Special Projects staff or visit our website to learn more about how Senator Baldwin can be of assistance.

Sincerely,

The Office of U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin
