Hi everyone,
Welcome to the course! I see that many of you have introduced yourselves at the Disqus forum for
Week 1 already. My name is Jane Park and I will be facilitating this course through May 5. You can learn more about me at my
P2PU profile.
Four things for you to do this week:
1) Join the first cc4k12 virtual meetup on
Thursday, March 21 at 3:00pm US Pacific time/UTC-7 (convert to your timezone
here). This is the time for the first meetup only. Simply join this Blackboard Collaborate room at the start time listed:
https://sas.elluminate.com/m.jnlp?password=M.201F591479750E670246FFFB9315F5&sid=2008170. This info is also listed at Week 1 of the course.
2) Take this Doodle poll to help me determine the best time and day to schedule all subsequent weekly meetups:
http://www.doodle.com/7snwk87tpq9vmsh3. Ignore the dates on the poll and try to select times you're always available each week, eg. every Monday you might be free from 3-5pm. Once I determine the best time for the majority of us, the meetup time and day will not change.
3) Wordpress: As relayed in the "
Communicating in this course" section, some weekly "missions" require submissions to the cc4k12 Wordpress blog. Please register for a WP account if you don't have one and post your username in reply here so I can invite you as an author to
http://cc4k12.wordpress.com/.
4) Complete the rest of your mission for the week as detailed at
Week 1.
Two more (optional) things for you to do:
5) Share your Twitter handle in the Disqus forum and follow @cc4k12 so I can add you to the @cc4k12 participant list at
https://twitter.com/cc4k12/course-participants. You can then simply
follow this list for the
duration of the course. While you're at it, state one thing you're excited to learn about in this
course using the
#cc4k12 hashtag!
6) If you want to receive weekly reminders (like this one) and you're not already subscribed to the cc4k12 Google Group, request to join it here:
http://groups.google.com/group/cc4k12.
Thanks in advance for bearing with us this first week as we sort out the logistics!
Best,
Jane
