Hi team,
Here is a proposed write-up for the Eventbrite page on the May 29th event:
On May 29th schools throughout DC will take part in the fourth annual Strawberries and Salad Greens day, a spring harvest celebration of fresh, local produce started by the DC Farm to School Network. Strawberries and salad greens grown by local farms will be featured in school lunches at all DC public schools and some charter schools. Last year, over 50 schools from all 8 wards also had display stations on “Where Food Comes From” to educate students on the farm to table process with plants, posters and other visuals.
Please join Capital Cause in volunteering at Ward 7’s Kelly Miller Middle School for Strawberries and Salad Greens day on May 29th from 10:30 AM – 2:00 PM. We need volunteers to staff a display station and get kids extra excited about eating all the fruits and veggies on their plate.
Best,
Jen

Why Strawberries?
Strawberries are ready-to-eat! No need to prepare them, just wash before eating!
Strawberries are delicious on their own—or pair them with cream!
Strawberries can be easily added to other meals, like salads, or prepared as a shake or smoothie!
Did you know that 1 cup of whole strawberries has 141% of your daily Vitamin C needs?
Strawberries are very low in Saturated Fat, Cholesterol and Sodium.
Strawberries are best when they are free of pesticides—they’ll have a “9” on their label! One reason for the strawberries is they are in season. For the farm to table movement it is all about eating locally grown foods that are in season.
