Hi all,
I hope everyone is well.

Here in New Jersey, winter is well established, the local lake is frozen over, and I am blessed to have friends who check on my boat in Maryland so I don't have to drive 2 1/2 hrs to adjust the tarp and drive home.   They text me photos to show my tarp is holding up against the snow and windstorms.   So I'm fine and hunkered down at home with a nice fire, some hot coffee, and a some free time to update the list of C&C 34/36 boats and owners.  I hope you are finding ways to enjoy winter until spring returns and we have to get our boats ready again for the season.

Please check your boat on my list.  Send me an email to correct any errors or make changes you may want to show on the list, like any cruising or racing stories you want to share.

Thanks,
Chuck

Chuck,

The only adjustment to my listing would be showing my location as Alpena, Michigan and you can drop the lake huron reference.

This year I have my boat in a heated  building so I can do repairs and get it ready for spring.  The hull is waxed with the next step touching up the bottom.   I am adding a max prop ( oh my expensive, but worth it I think) and a new auto helm.   my current one just doesn't work right.

Our boats are amazing as Rob Ball and C&C did a great job.  I am so looking forward to sailing this summer.

Greetings. I am new to this group.

I do not see my boat listed here. I purchased a 1981 C&C 34 R in October 2021. The boat is currently named Carpe Diem. I have limited information on her past, but I do know that she started out in the Chicago area.  She has the original Yanmar engine from launching. From there she was in Toronto for a time with the name Eagle. I am located in Vancouver BC Canada and she has been located here for the past ten years or so after a few years in Manitoba. Overall the boat is in good shape. The hull looks really good.  Naturally there are some things that need upgrading. Currently I am redoing the holding tank and having several of the thru-hull fittings replaced. The boat will be used for cruising in the Pacific north-west, I never was much of a racer.  I look forward to continuing getting to know the boat this winter and having my first cruising season with her this year.

I would appreciate being added to the group, although I see it is an older boat than most on the list.

Hi Douglas,
It looks as though your boat is an earlier model than the 34+ and 34R series which was first produced in 1989. It is also referred to as 34/36 because it is actually 35.5 ft overall. I looks as through you have a regular C&C 34. The 34R from 1989 onwards has 34R in the serial number.
I am sure Chuck can confirm or otherwise.

Hey Douglas,

Ken is right.
The HIN of "ZCC34335M81C" seems to be from the 1977 design, is hull 335 and is missing the "R" designation.  That design had a long run with over 400 hulls built.   Plus, the "34R" has an open transom and a removable vee berth for racing.   I attached some pics of the two designs to show some differences.

My list is focused on the later 1989 34/36 model as we try to help each other with solutions to problems common to this specific model.  You're welcome to remain a member of our group, but I won't be listing your boat.  And much of our correspondence just won't translate to your model as the hull is different, the keel is different, the mast is different, the layout is different, tanks are different, the cockpit is different, etc, etc.

If you haven't already done so, I would suggest you join the much larger email list at: cncphotoalbum.com where you can discuss issues with fellow 34 owners.  I've learned a lot from that group over the last twenty years and remain an active supporter.   I think if you share your story there, it will draw some positive feedback about the C&C 34 which is loved by many.

Thanks,

Hi Chuck,

Thanks for the update. I made a couple of changes to the list (email address and a couple of updated comments) which are included in the attached file. Hope I get to see you on the water this year — last season was abbreviated for me due to repairs and other stuff.

Cheers,

Monty
