Team,
We are finally here. I want to say a special thank you to all of you who sacrificed Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons these past months to make it to our conference calls and/or meetings. I know it was a lot, but many of you were there week in and week out; and know that I recognize your generous sacrifice. I also want to thank each of you for all of the work you put in outside of the meetings. Many of you treated this like a FULL time job. I can't list every detail that each of you did, because I would miss our brunch. However, I want you all to know that I truly appreciate you! No matter how great or small, you each contributed something, and I know that this will be a great day! The reason this WILL be a success is because of your sacrifice. As a former hospital administrator, I know the challenge of last minute changes and unacknowledged overtime. Many of you stayed late, called one more time, sent that extra email, sold an extra ticket, sent an extra tweet, went to get linens, proofed a powerpoint, printed documents, ran all over the DMV, and just said yes when I called. This is why we are going to be the biggest and baddest brunch in the DMV. People will be talking for days and weeks to come. There will be a line waiting for next year!!!!!
I may not talk to everyone tomorrow (or in the near future), but I want you to know that I appreciate all that you have done. Let us remember that this is all about the PHILANTHROPY. Regardless of who walks through the doors (White House staffers or local government) today, we are here to show people what crowd sourcing and crowd funding is all about, and that drive is what is going to get us through.
A special thank you to the best team leads on this side of the globe. Jacqui, Alyson, Abenaa, and Philip, I want to publicly thank you for being so flexible, diligent, attentive to details, and supportive of me during this brunch planning. The four of you made my role so much easier and I thank you.
Kezia and the rest of the Board, thank you for entrusting this task to me. I hope that our team's work is representative of the Capital Cause brand. We look forward to making a huge step toward our mission and while we didn't hit the $5000 goal, we will make a difference, and hopefully there will be many more events to make it there!!!!
A quick reminder of the Day Party (since someone is coming to the Brunch dressed for that) immediately after we clean the ballroom at Current/Rosebar (1215 Connecticut Ave NW WDC 20036).
Forever thankful to each of you,
Andrea
