Dear all,
Seasonal greetings!!!

Hope everyone safe and healthy.

I just wanted to let you all know that, I was conferred with the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Environmental Sciences from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.

My thesis topic is "Studies on Conservation and Management of Fishing Cat and Indian Smooth-coated Otter in Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary, East Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, India."

I want to put on record that, Conservation Biology and Wildlife Management (CBWM)course has helped me in changing my thinking and approach towards Wildlife Conservation.

I highly acknowledge Dr. K.Thulsi Rao, SFS, Dy, Conservator of Forests (Rtd.), Project Tiger, Srisailam,. Dr. Urmila Pingle, Dr. Anish Andheria, Dr. Kishore Rithe, for their noble and generous support both financially and morally during the initial stage of my career.

I would like to thank Dr. Rudran, sir is always my inspiration.

I  would like to thank Mr. Rakesh Kalva for his prompt response and timely help financially at the time of submission of my thesis.

I would like to thank CBWM alumni, you people are awesome.

I am grateful to the officers at MoEF&CC, Government of India(GoI), United Nations Development Programme(UNDP)United Nations Volunteer (UNV) Delhi Office, Global Environment Facility(GEF),  and Government of Andhra Pradesh(GoAP) for encouragement to carry out my research.

This degree would certainly remind me to be more proactive towards the conservation of wildlife, Nature and Natural resources.

I hope I will get an opportunity to work with you all wonderful and ignited minds for the conservation of wildlife, Nature, and Natural Resources in near future.

I am grateful to the wonderful people who have shaped my thinking and attitude towards science and conservation.

PS:  Dear Dr. Kishore Rithe sir, I request you kindly continue the programme CBWM, it is a wonderful course that every wildlife enthusiast wishes for, and youth who wish to pursue as a career in wildlife conservation would be greatly benefitted and they can be encouraged towards the Wildlife Conservation. Regards.

🙏
Jai Hind.

Dear Dr. Easwar,
Congratulations!!! Ten years have passed since we had the CBWM course in India, and you can't imagine how happy and proud I was to get news of your success. It told me that you have been productive and working to protect Mother Nature. Keep up the good work.

From the responses that you have received I know that the Melghat group network is still active. Let us keep it alive and keep in touch. I'd love to hear about your future work and those of others.

My wife and I live in Florida, USA close to our daughter's family. Covid 19 has restricted our travel but I took the opportunity to write some papers for which I really could find time. I have published one paper during the pandemic. I have attached the link below, and another is in press. I am working on my third paper, which is about human-monkey conflicts in Si Lanka.

Keep in touch and stay safe.

Dear Eswar
I am extremely sorry for responding so late as this email went to my social folder and I could just find it today.I am so happy to hear that you have successfully completed a Ph.D.I really appreciate your email praising the CBWM course and the tutors who influenced you during the course.Such emails inspire all of us to conduct the course again though it has been very difficult these days.
I had organised a third Applied Environment Education (AEE) course in 2012 with alumni students which went off very well. The next AEE course was recently conducted in 2019 at Guwahati in Assam. However I could not organise the second CBWM course since your first course. However I promise to organise the same soon we overcome the pandemic situation. (These are the two courses I had decided to organise regularly in India). However we will need your help.
Let me tell you that we have now built a beautiful training centre in Melghat Tiger Reserve (10 cottages, a dormitory, kitchen/dining and a Hall in 20 acres campus) where we can accommodate 30-50 delegates comfortably.Similar research station is coming up in Pench Tiger Reserve. We had organised Central Indian Landscape Symposium (CILS) in 2019 at our Melghat centre where around 120 delegates participated from several Universities including Columbia University (Dr.Ruth Defries is leading this group) and field biologists working across India.
So a lot of things have happened in the past 10 years in central India. We have many success stories to share. As Dr.Rudy stated in his email, lets use this platform more frequently to share your achievements, field experience, success stories.
Eswar, three cheers for your Ph.D (we would celebrate this one day) and especially a wonderful email.
Keep it up,
Kishor Rithe
