A Fellow of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA) and holder of Bachelor of Accountancy Degree, Chikusi Banda is equipped with over 19 years of work experience in mainstream Finance, Audit and Tax, obtained from both the public and private sectors.
He is currently employed as Manager Tax Planning & Compliance at Mopani Copper Mines Plc, one of the biggest companies in Zambia. Previously he worked for Kansanshi Mining Plc, Deloitte & Touché, Zambia Revenue Authority and the Ministry of Finance. Has also worked for Standard Chartered Bank Plc, Coopers & Lybrand and Panorama Security & Alarm Services. Between 2003 and 2009 he lectured undergraduate students at the Copperbelt University and Zambia Institute of Business & Industrial Practice in Principles of Auditing, Taxation and Managerial Finance on a part time basis.
He is a regular contributor of articles to the ZICA Accountant magazine. His articles focus on personal financial planning and collective investment schemes.
During his spare time, he gets involved with students, helping them to achieve their full potential by giving exam, study and career tips.
He is a member of the Finance Committee of the Occupational Health and Safety Institute and Chairman of the Fwense Cooperative Society Limited.
In terms of charity work, he served as President of the Lions Club of Mukuba and also as Treasurer for the Lions District 413 Zambia.
Election Statement
As you can see from my highlighted experience, I have worked in various sectors of the economy (finance, mining, education etc) and have gained a broad understanding of issues affecting each of these sectors. I am therefore adequately qualified to represent the interests of industry on the accounting body. I have no doubt that I will contribute positively to the development of the institute and the accounting profession.
