Hi,

I am experiencing something odd while trying to start multiple VApps synchronously. I have a trace that is supposed to start multiple netperf instances:

aiattach netperf async=4

When the experiment starts, I see 5 VMs come up, a client and server for ai_1 and ai_3 and a server for ai_2. A short time into the experiment, the VM from ai_2 is deleted and I am left with 4 VMs. I have tried with async=8 as well, and I am always capped to 2 ai's (4 VMs) running at a time.

Are there any restrictions with async or any settings I can change to allow for more VApps at once?

Thanks,

Could you confirm the output of this command for us?

$ cbtool/cb cldshow all | grep parallelism

Here is the output:

$ ./cb cldshow all | grep parallelism
|ai_defaults                      |attach_parallelism             |10
|ai_defaults                      |detach_parallelism             |20
|ai_defaults                      |execute_parallelism            |100
|ai_defaults                      |runstate_parallelism           |5
|aidrs_defaults                   |daemon_parallelism             |50
|aidrs_defaults                   |detach_parallelism             |20
|firs_defaults                    |detach_parallelism             |20
|vm_defaults                      |detach_parallelism             |20
|vm_defaults                      |runstate_parallelism           |5
|vmc_defaults                     |detach_parallelism             |20
|vmcrs_defaults                   |detach_parallelism             |20

I tried increasing the ai_defaults and vm_defaults values for runstate_parallelism using cldalter, but the VMs that booted were still limited.

Sorry for the slow reply.

Thanks,
-Michael Wehrmeister
