Hello Marcio,

I remember I have asked you the definition of VMC, and how different VMCs works together.
And I described a SPECweb case:
I’m running a SPECweb application, I want the web client is running in VMC1, and others (webserver and its database) are in VMC2.

You said "Yes, as long as the VMCs have network connectivity to each other, and have the same image ids across VMCs (e.g., it will *not* work for Amazon EC2). The SPECWeb case that you described is exactly what I had in mind when I created this abstraction."

So, is this case already support in CloudBench ?
I'm working on OpenStack, so, is CloudBench support this in OpenStack ?
What you use in OpenStack to define a VMC, a region? an available zone ? a cell ? a host ?
What should I do to enable it ?

Thanks.

Yes, if you have a *multi-region* OpenStack installation, then CloudBench can use each Region as a different VMC. There is nothing to be "enabled" in CloudBench per se (other than change the parameter OSK_INITIAL_VMCS).
You will need to deploy OpenStack in multi-region mode, and that can be a bit of additional work.

Regards,

Marcio

But when I run "aiattach specweb", How CloudBench know that the client should boot up in region1, and others should boot up in region ?

Can you be more specific? Implicitly choosing a region? or Explicitly choosing a region?

This is what I want to do:

I’m running a SPECweb application, I want the web client is running in VMC1, and others (webserver and its database) are in VMC2.

Marcio said "The SPECWeb case that you described is exactly what I had in mind when I created this abstraction."

So I'm asking about what exactly configure steps I need to do.

Marcio told me in Openstack, VMC = region.

So, my question is: how can I add two regions in CB at one time ? How can I start the SPECweb Vapp as I want ?

Thanks.
