Director, Budgeting & Financial Reporting
The Director of Budgeting & Financial Reporting will be responsible for coordinating the annual budget & reforecast process. This involves working closely with the various Business Managers/Finance Directors of each of the divisions, reviewing their submissions, preparing budget presentations, etc before it goes to the VP, Finance. In addition, this person will oversee all of our corporate reporting requirements and will serve as the primary source for financial reporting to our corporate headquarters in France. This role reports directly to the VP, Finance & Planning and will also work closely with the Chief Financial Officer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with the Business Managers/Financial Directors of each publishing imprint to ensure accurate and timely reporting of the budget/reforecast, and prepare all budget presentations and analyses.
Responsible for all financial reporting to France. This includes weekly sales reporting, and monthly financial reporting and analysis.
Responsible for special projects and presentations for the monthly Executive Management Board meetings, All Employee Meetings and other similar financial presentations, as well as coordinate the various Budget Presentations.
Coordinate the yearly 401(k) audit by acting as the liaison between the outside auditors, Human Resources and the Finance department.
Assist in the renewal and administration of our commercial insurance policies.
Responsible for government forms, industry surveys, etc.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 5+ years in a similar role. Industry experience a plus as is an MBA.
Keen attention to detail, as well as ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced environment to meet deadlines.
Experience with developing detailed financial models in support of budgeting, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
Strong communication skills (oral & written), good judgment, and excellent interpersonal skills. Job includes responsibilities for preparing weekly and monthly sales and financial commentary for senior management.
Ability to work closely with other departments and operate in a manner that supports functional collaboration.
Strong foundation using MS Office tools (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) with specific knowledge of pivot tables, macros and other key tools for organizing data.
Director of Digital Strategy & Development
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create strategic frameworks to analyze the division’s existing business and help evaluate new market opportunities (partner, acquire, build)
Develop business cases for new initiatives and potential partnerships (e.g. market analysis, value proposition, strategic fit, economic models and launch)
Work with the team to identify and capture incremental revenue opportunities within the existing accounts
Coordinate account management efforts with technology providers, device and mobile manufacturers as well new and existing accounts
Prepare executive summaries, reports, and communications for internal “buy in”
Responsible for developing project P&L’s s and relating accounting procedures for the division
Liaise with Information Technology and Strategic Publishing Operations groups to ensure technology infrastructure is in place
Ensure compliance and validation of file and territorial security (e.g. DRM schemas) with all digital partners
Work with legal department to review contracts and terms of service
REQUIREMENTS:
10+ years of business development and account management in the media, publishing, or technology field
Familiar with all elements of strategy formulation, evaluation and launch
Strong understanding of acquisition/strategic partnership process including: assessment, business case development, contract negotiation and integration
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills a must and ability to work effectively as a member of a fast-paced team
Ability to handle several different assignments at different stages of progress at any given time
Keen attention to detail and strong knowledge of web & mobile based applications
