DESCRIPTION:
The Vice President of Product's role is mission critical to Gemvara.
S/he will be responsible for designing the Gemvara site in a way that is compelling for users, consistent with the high-quality level of the product, and drives financial results as ultimately measured by reduction of acquisition costs and generation of sales. The site should be a place where consumers have fun browsing our infinite inventory, share customized pieces with their friends and family, and ultimately purchase the perfect piece.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The ideal candidate would be able to address 3 key needs in the company:
Product Management: S/he will be the owner of the site and ultimate decision maker about what features and layout will be implemented over time. S/he would own the product roadmap and drive the product and engineering teams to that timeline.
Brand: S/he will be responsible for developing and conveying the brand in the user experience. Social: S/he will be responsible for integrating social media into the product experience to drive down acquisition costs through improvements in repeat purchase behavior, referrals and sharing throughout the Gemvara experience. The process of customizing a piece of jewelry is something our users want to share, but don't currently have the tools act upon. This will be crucial to drive awareness and facilitate the multi-party experience that currently happens on Gemvara ([90]%+ of traffic is from women while 50% of purchases are made by men)
DESIRED BACKGROUND:
Proven track record in:
Building an ecommerce site. Ideally (but not required) one that sold non-commodity goods to women, such as fashion or jewelry.
Ability to convey a rich, nuanced brand through a product experience in a way that is attractive to consumers and drives engagement and loyalty.
Working in a fast-paced, innovative direct-to-consumer environment with many moving parts.
Bringing value to the table.
Being a business "owner", not an employee.
Building a business proposition from scratch.
Thinking beyond conventional ecommerce strategies.
Growing profitable brands/businesses.
Spotting the next big idea and being the authority in the marketplace.
Successfully launching new brands and/or products to maximize current customer conversion while acquiring new customers.

Must be a do-er, who can create, execute and complete projects
Entry and success requires insatiable curiosity and desire to make an impact and learn.
Enthusiasm.
Passionate; high energy (24/7).
Dedicated.
Thinking smart and acting smart.
Creative and quantitative.
Team player who is able to partner with others and works well in a collaborative environment.
Long-term strategic thinker but not afraid to get his or her hands dirty.
Strong point-of-view and ability to clearly communicate while keeping ego in check.
