Dear Sir/Madam,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am currently conducting research on the genetic differences between adolescent and young adult (AYA) breast cancer patients (aged 15 to 39) and other breast cancer patients. Specifically, I am using cBioPortal to analyze the Breast Invasive Carcinoma (PanCancer Atlas) and Breast Cancer (METABRIC) datasets.

While I can filter samples based on cancer types and mutated genes, I was wondering if it is possible to select samples based on specific age ranges (e.g., below a certain age). I would appreciate it if you could guide me on how to set such age-specific filters, if this functionality is available.

Thank you very much for your time and assistance. I look forward to your response.

Dear Shiro,

Thank you for your question.

For most studies, you can filter on "age at diagnosis", similar to the filtering on cancer types and mutated genes. You can select an age range by dragging your mouse over the figure. It is also possible to define your own range of bins by clicking on the option "Custom bins".

I hope this answers your question. If you need any more help, please remember to Reply All to this thread.

Best,
Tim

Dear Sir/Madam,

I hope this email finds you well.

I am writing to follow up on my previous inquiry as I have not yet received a response. I would like to kindly ask once again how I might use cBioPortal to analyze gene mutation frequencies by age groups, such as dividing patients into categories like ages 15-39 and 40 and older.

If such analysis is possible using cBioPortal, I would greatly appreciate your guidance on how to proceed.

Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

Sincerely,

Hello dear, I have not seen an option but you can interestingly do through graph pad prism.

Hi Shiro,

I think you may have missed a reply by Tim Kuijpers back on Sept 16:

Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your response.

I understand that it is possible to divide the age groups using Custom Bins, but I would like to split them into two categories: ① <40 and ② ≥40. However, on the interface, it seems to automatically divide them into ① ≤40 and ② >40. Could you please advise on how to achieve the division of ① <40 and ② ≥40?

Additionally, if I am able to divide them into ① <40 and ② ≥40, would it be possible to visualize specific genetic mutations in the <40 group using Oncoprinter?

Thank you for your assistance.
