Hi i'm trying to run multiple docker instances in the same machine as a workaround to user authentication and project permissions not working with saml2.

I could try and install my own keycloack instance and but i haven't found an fast way of doing that.

When I configure the second folder everything seems to work, a new instance is running, but it still keeps trying to connect to the "cbioportal-database" host in mysql while loading the seed database or connecting. This image is on a different port than the other cbioportal instance database. I can connect to the new mysql instance on the new port with docker compose but it won't connect or ever say the seed database is fully loaded.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I just wanted to add that even if I get keycloack working, it may be too much for some people to remember yet another username and password.

Hi Juan,

Before diving into the technical details, I’d like to better understand your goals. Could you share your desired use case or an example workflow of how you’d like users to interact with cBioPortal?

For instance, are you aiming for an instance that only specific users can log into, or do you need more fine-grained control—such as allowing certain users to access only a subset of studies?

We support multiple auth methods, and I can recommend the best option once I have a clearer picture of your needs.

Best,
Gaofei
