Dear cBioPortal Team,

My name is Daniel Olofin, and I am currently a master's student in Statistics at Georgia Southern University with a strong interest in cancer research. I recently discovered the cBioPortal platform and have been deeply impressed by the wealth of publicly available, real-world cancer genomic data it provides.

I would like to inquire whether it is permissible to use data obtained from cBioPortal for academic research and publication. Are there specific usage guidelines, attribution requirements, or restrictions I should be aware of before proceeding?

Thank you for making such an invaluable resource available to the research community. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Daniel Olofin

Dear Daniel,

Thank you for your interest in using data from cBioPortal. There are no restrictions around the use of our data in academic publications, but please make sure you cite the source of the data (ideally the publication associated with the original data) as well as cBioPortal. More information can be found in our FAQ.

Niki.
