I use "git clone https://github.com/cBioPortal/cbioportal.git" to get current release such as cbioportal v6.0.9. How can I git cbioportal v6.0.8?
Thanks,

Harry

Hi Harry,

You can download the previous version here: Releases · cBioPortal/cbioportal (github.com)

Or do a git checkout of the identified commit: git - Cloning an older version of github repo - Stack Overflow

Best,
-JJ

Dr.Gao,

Do you know who is in charge of cbioportal authentication?
Since v6.0.0, cbioportal made a big change on user authentication that resulted in my local cbioportal that no longer works for authentication. I want to ask a few questions to your developer in  authentication.
Thank you,

Harry

Hi Harry,

Thanks for reaching out! We don’t have one person in charge of authentication. It’s a collaborative effort. Did you find the v6 migration guide part on security? See:

https://docs.cbioportal.org/migration-guide/#v5---v6

If you are looking for additional guidance, perhaps @Charles Haynes (CC’ed) might be able to help

Best wishes,

Ino

Who made the change to v6.0.0 on authentication? Because a big change from v5. to v6 if you compare applicationContext-security.xml in v5 with v6.
Thanks,

Harry

What is the specific issue you are trying to solve? Are you looking for a high level explanation of the changes?

The v6 release includes an upgrade to spring security, which addressed several security issues:

Thanks!

Yes, I have a specific issue. Before I used AD to authenticate, now I can't make it work v6. I need to directly communicate with a developer who did v6's authentication.
Thanks,

Gotcha –

Yes there were quite some changes necessary for azure. This is how we changed it in our production configuration:

https://github.com/knowledgesystems/knowledgesystems-k8s-deployment/blob/master/public-eks/cbioportal-prod/cbioportal_spring_boot.yaml#L119C59-L127

Used to be:

https://github.com/knowledgesystems/knowledgesystems-k8s-deployment/blob/54511face343ee70a835deb974c62cc5bc322602/public-eks/cbioportal-prod/cbioportal_spring_boot.yaml#L122-L123

Feel free to send specific questions on the email chain, and hopefully others can chime in

Best wishes,

Ino
