Hello,

I'm a Data Scientist/Bioinformatician at Huntsman Cancer Institute, and I'm reaching out to find out what a rough timeline would be on getting a study published on MSKCC's public cBioPortal instance.

If I provided a study in a format that passes validation (validateData.py), what is the expected timeframe for getting the study on https://www.cbioportal.org/

Let me know, or point me in the right direction, please. Thanks!

Hi Jake,

Thanks for reaching out and considering hosting your data with cBioPortal.

The timeline can vary a bit depending on a few things:

  • First, it is to check whether the study aligns with the portal’s requirements (beyond just passing validation).
  • Processing + review: There are a few internal steps, like data processing, QA, and review, before anything goes live.
  • Size/complexity: Bigger or more complex studies can take a bit longer to work through.
Roughly speaking, once everything is in good shape, it can take anywhere from 2-3 weeks, but happy to give a more specific estimate if you can share a bit more about the study.

Thanks,
Ritika
