In the AJCC pathologist T stage, there are T1, T1a, T1b. T1 represents the maximum diameter of the straight tumor ≤3 cm, while T1a represents the maximum diameter of the tumor ≤ 1 cm, T1b represents the maximum diameter of the tumor > 1 cm but ≤ 2 cm, and T1c does not appear as the maximum diameter of the tumor >2 but ≤3 cm. Is it because "T1" represents T1c in the AJCC pathologist T stage, or is there no T1c in the classification?

Thanks for reaching out!

Which study is this? It might be described in the accompanying article what T1 refers to. If I google it does look like there’s a T1c in the AJCC pathologist T stage (depending on cancer type), but not sure if the people that curated the data for that study went with T1 == T1c

Best wishes,

Ino
